Roku media players offer a lesser-known feature that allows seamless connectivity with mobile devices like iPhones or iPads, enabling users to mirror content onto a larger TV screen. This capability is particularly handy for showcasing photos and videos stored on your iPad to a wider audience, whether it’s for entertainment at home or presentations in a professional setting.
Preparing Your Roku for Screen Mirroring
Before you start mirroring your iPad to Roku, you need to ensure that your Roku device is set up to allow screen mirroring:
Using the Roku remote control, navigate to “Settings” in the sidebar on the left side of your Roku screen.
Select “System,” and then choose “Screen Mirroring.”
In the “Screen Mirroring Mode” section, select either “Prompt” or “Always Allow.” If you opt for “Prompt,” Roku will request permission each time you attempt to mirror your iPad.
Mirroring Your iPad to Roku using the Roku App
To mirror your iPad screen to Roku, follow these steps:
Ensure that your iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku device.
Open the Roku app on your iPad.
Tap the “Media” tab located at the bottom of the screen.
If prompted, connect to your Roku device.
Choose the type of content you want to mirror to your Roku—Photos, Videos, or Music stored on your iPad.
Once you’ve selected the content, it will be displayed on your TV screen via Roku. For photos and videos, you can initiate a slideshow by tapping the Play button, which allows you to navigate through the images using on-screen controls or swipe gestures. Additionally, you can customize slideshow settings, such as speed and transitions, by tapping the gear icon.
While you can’t mirror the entire iPad display like you can with Apple TV, this method provides a convenient way to share specific media content from your iPad to your TV screen using Roku.
